American automakers shift from sedan to electric SUVs: -

The latest trend in the automotive industry indicates the demise of sedans. SUVs are the “next big thing”. No wonder that the US Big Three has abandoned the production of sedans. 

However, Tesla proves the notion wrong as Tesla Model 3 tops the chart of most selling the luxury vehicle. The top ten contains only one more sedan that is Mercedes C-class. The rest of the top eight cars on the list are SUVs. Automakers are focusing on the segment of electric SUVs and hoping to attract young and trend-savvy buyers. 2020 is expected to witness the launch of about 25 new electric cars. 16 of these cars would be SUVs or crossovers.

Rivian R1T-the future of pickup truck: -

The electric pickup truck market indicates a promising future. As an illustration, Rivian broke the news of massive investment by the two companies, Amazon and Ford, which showed their trust in this budding electric pickup company in the past as well. Rivian raised as much as $1.3 billion in the second round of investment. The company vows to come up with an all-purpose electric delivery van. 

Amazon has already ordered 100,000 of these vans which are expected to be delivered to Amazon by 2021. Cox Automotive have also invested a notable sum of money; precisely $350 million. Rivian looks all set to start the production of the enormous R1T pickup truck in its power plant located in Illinois. Production of R1S SUV is also much anticipated. The company is expected to roll out the vehicles by the end of 2020.

Great news for electric cars in the USA: Tesla Model Y to hit the market before the promised time.

The next most anticipated product of the automotive giant is the Tesla Model Y. the company sources confirmed that product completion is ahead of its schedule. However, through unofficial sources, it is known that the company has speeded the order of parts from its suppliers in Taiwan. 

It is very likely that Tesla shall surprise the market by the launch of Model Y in the first quarter of 2020. Also, Tesla Semi’s parts orders are being accelerated indicating the company’s enthusiasm to launch the truck early into the market.
